Sweet Sweet Summertime!

It's official, summer is here! Not only was yesterday the first day of summer, but I saw Dave Matthews Band on Saturday. Sure, this was only the second year for me but it has already began to symbolize the start of summer.

Also, today has been pretty fantastic. Did some work stuff and then took my niece and nephews to the creek. I remember going around in the creek, looking for fish, and just having a great time when I was little and it was so much fun to see them doing the same things. They then went for a bike ride but I couldn't go because my bike can't go anywhere until I buy a rack. Next time...

Food for today:
breakfast - perfect oatmeal with almond butter and an iced latte from Starbucks
lunch - hummus and crackers and a "green monster" with spinach, vanilla soy milk, 1/2 banana,
and blueberries
snack - small twist ice cream cone with crunchies....couldn't resist it, i love those things!
dinner (still to come)

By the way....noteworthy blog of the day: http://eatliverun.com Jenna, the young woman who writes it is doing a 1/2 marathon in San Francisco in October and if you donate to her fundraising page you can get an e-cookbook. I can't wait till I get mine and she is blowing her fundraising goal out of the water...for such a great cause!

have a beautiful day.....

It's been a minute!

Well, maybe I will get better at this. Let's see, since my last (and first post), I did my first 5K!!! I walked and it took a while, but I did it and was rediculously proud!!! It was the Komen Race for the Cure in Pittsburgh on Mother's Day! Loved it, except for the 3 hours that we lost my 86 year old grandmother on the survivor trolley! But she was found and everything turned out fine!

I also did a fun walk for the niece of my mother's friend who was killed in a hit and run accident a few years back. All of these people in a small town celebrating a life that was way too short....it was a very powerful day.

I've been trying to walk every day and added some biking in, however I did 5 miles on my first day on a bike in at least ten years. I learned what I needed to fix on my bike and that it is a lot harder than it was when I was a kid!

Maybe a food post later?
